Meet Dawn
Born and raised in Delaware, Dawn Greto Briggs is proud to call the First State home. She built her career, raised her family, and dedicated her life to serving the community that has given her so much. She believes Delaware deserves leaders who put people before politics and who never lose sight of the values that make our state special.
As a Certified Public Accountant with more than 20 years of experience in accounting, finance, and information technology, Dawn has built her career helping organizations strengthen their financial foundations, improve operations, and plan for the future. Her professional experience has given her firsthand insight into the challenges facing employers, entrepreneurs, schools, and nonprofit organizations throughout Delaware
As a candidate for the Delaware State Senate, Dawn is focused on helping small businesses thrive, strengthening public education, and supporting the arts as an essential part of Delaware's culture, economy, and future. She believes small businesses are the backbone of our communities, that every child deserves access to an excellent education, and that the arts inspire innovation, preserve our heritage, and enrich everyday life.
Dawn is running because she believes Delaware needs a New Dawn in Politics, one where elected officials are independent thinkers, not driven by political tribes or party loyalty alone. She rejects the divisiveness and groupthink that have come to define too much of today's political climate. Instead, she believes a State Senator's first responsibility is to be the voice of the people they represent.
Grounded in fiscal responsibility, transparency, and practical solutions, Dawn is ready to bring experienced leadership and common-sense decision-making to Dover. She is running to usher in a New Dawn for Delaware! We need a government that works for its citizens, where opportunities are expanded for future generations, and every voice matters.
Key Issues
Education
Delaware ranks 45th in education compared to the rest of the nation. We need renovation in education in the First State. The waiting list for Vocational Schools is far too long; adding vo-tech electives to public schools and adding additional vo-tech schools is essential. To address declining test scores, I propose that we look to the success of the states surrounding us. Focus on literacy and help educators obtain additional training in phonics, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension. We must assist school districts by providing additional resources like reading coaches and implement strict standards for promotion in regards to students not meeting reading proficiency thresholds.
Small Business
Small Businesses are the engine of the American Economy. We need to invest in industry that creates and powers small business. I have worked in small businesses for the majority of my career in accounting and I have never met more hardworking men and woman than small business owners. We must reward hard work and create less barriers for small businesses in Delaware.
Support and Growth for the Arts
As the mother of a performing musician and vocalist, I am passionate about the arts and their impact on the economy. The arts play an important role in the state's economy. The arts attract people and their businesses. For many years, the arts in Delaware have lacked support and growth opportunities.
